DIOCESE OF SALINA (Dioecesis Salinensis)

Country : United States
Denomination : Roman Catholic

Established : 1887 as the Diocese of Concordia
Renamed 1944 as the Diocese of Salina

Arms (crest) of Diocese of Salina

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were designed after the change of name to Diocese of Salina.

The blue star came from the original coat of arms of the Diocese of Concordia and symbolizes the title of Maria as Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the dioceses Patroness. The heart symbolizes the new diocese Salina after 1945 and its new cathedral, which was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The cross-partition in this shield is not really explained.
