Origin/meaning
The Diocese uses a Quasi-Armorial Seal witha shield bearing the Tower of the Robert Hunt Shrine on Jamestown Island. The Shield is ensinged by as scroll bearing the Motto Nisi Dominus from teh opening words of Psalm 127 "Unless the Lord ..." and above that a Mitre. The Shield is placed on a key and a crozier in saltitre. The Versica sourrounding the whole carries the Wording SEAL OF THE DIOCESE OF SOUTHERN VIRGINIA 1807-1892
