The Coat of Arms was created in 1962 and is based on the Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese of Uppsala to which the main part of the new Diocese belonged. The Crowned head is that of St Erik patron of Sweden and of Stockholm. The Tinctures are those of Sweden and Stockholm.
