DIOCESE OF STOCKTON (Dioecesis Stocktoniensiss)
Country : United States
Denomination : Roman Catholic
Established : 1962
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The upper blue field honors the Blessed Virgin Mary. The golden lozenge (diamond) which a red cross represents Jesus Christ in both His Divinity and in His Humanity. The lozenge is placed between two silver angels wings to represent the Archangel Gabriel who announces the Incarnation and thus refers to the Annunciation, titular of the Cathedral of Stockton.
The chevron and the 5-pointed star are retained from the arms of the Stockton family. Thus their use honors Commodore Stockton for whom the See City is named.
