Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on June 18, 1997.

The wavy division line and the beaver symbolise the Dreetzer See and Dreetzer Luch nature reserves. The waves also symbolise the Rhin river. The trees in the base are a canting element, the name Dreetz is derived from the Polabic word Drewo, which means wood or tree. It is shown in the shape of a beaver burrow.
