Shoulder Sleeve Insignia. Description: On a maroon vertical rectangle arched convexly at top and bottom and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border a white Viking head in winged helm detailed maroon. Attached above the rectangle a maroon scroll inscribed “EDISON” in white letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border. Attached below the rectangle a maroon scroll inscribed “HIGH SCHOOL” in white letters and edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) yellow border. The overall dimensions are 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm) in height and 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) in width.

Shoulder Loop Insignia. Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Sanguine an open book Or superimposed with a torch throughout of the like enflamed Gules. Attached below the shield a Gold color scroll inscribed “KNOWLEDGE IS OUR STRENGTH” in Black letters.

Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Gold, maroon and white are the school colors. The Viking is the school mascot and reflects the cadets’ dedication to school, community and country.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Maroon and gold are the school colors. The open book and torch stand for leadership and education.

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was approved on 24 December 1997. The Shoulder Loop Insignia was approved on 9 January 1998.
