Parti de sable et de gueules ; à deux pics en sautoir, une enclume, à la lampe de mineur appendue à une roue d'engrenage, tous d'or et brochant chacun sur le précédent en cœur, au clou de sable brochant au centre de la roue d'engrenage, le tout accompagné au canton senestre du chef d'une «apeau» d'argent chargé en cœur d'une meule de gueules ; au franc-canton d'or chargé de deux clefs renversées de sable passées en sautoir.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted on August 14, 1925.

The arms refer to the industries in the town : mining, the metal and leather industries. The black refers to the coal, the red to fire. The small free canton shows the two keys of the Île-de-Barbe region.
