FLEET MAINTENANCE FACILITY CAPE BRETON, ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY

Coat of arms (crest) of the Fleet Maintenance Facility Cape Breton, Royal Canadian Navy

Official blazon

Badge: Azure on a gear wheel Or three thistle heads proper in pall between three ermine spots Sable in pall reversed.
Motto: We serve the Fleet.

Origin/meaning

The design is based on the badge of H.MC.S. Cape Breton. The gear wheel, which has been changed from white to gold, refers to the machinery of the engineering branch. The ermine spots are from the arms of Brittany, from which Cape Breton takes its name, and the thistles symbolize the Scottish heritage of Cape Breton.

The badge was approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on November 1, 2002.
