English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were registered on October 7, 2003.

The arms refer to the importance of iron industry in the town. In 1618–1620 the first iron-mills and smelters were built, using easily accessible deposites of pelosiderite (iron ore) and plenty of firewood from the nearby mountains. In the last years of the Thirty Years War the hammer works were created/built. In 1675 the hammer mill was modernised and Frýdlant had become one of the metalurgical centers in Moravia.

The arms probably date from the 17th or early 18th century.
