FRANKENMARKT

State : Oberösterreich
District : Vöcklabruck

Frankenm.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on March 8, 1976.

The oldest known seal of Frankenberg dates from 1794 and shows three undetermined flowers above a small mountain. These are clearly taken from the arms of the local judge Johann Wolf Praunseisen, who used similar arms in 1635. In the next seal, known since 1870 the flowers appear as natural lilies. In the present arms the lilies were replaced by heraldic fleur-de-lis and the bar, representing the Vöckla river was added.
