GEUENSEE

Canton : Luzern

Wappen von Geuensee/Coat of arms (crest) of Geuensee

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted in 1958.

The red castle is taken from the arms of the Lords of Rothenburg (=red-castle). These gave their arms to the town of Rotheburg and later to the Rothenburg District (Amt or LandvogteiRotheburg) within the canton Luzern (until 1795). Geuensee was part of this district and thus used the arms with the castle.

Thee three golden balls, refer to the three golden apples of St. NIchoals, Bishop of Myra, the church patron of Geuensee.

Before 1958 the municipality used the arms of Rotheburg.

In 1987 the arms below were shown for the municipality, but these have never been used:

Wappen von Geuensee/Coat of arms (crest) of Geuensee

An explanation for these arms was not provided.
