Arms (crest) of Gram

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1963.

The griffin in the bar is taken from the old seal of the Gram district, dating from around 1600. The griffin is likely to be derived from the arms of Erik of Pommern, who ruled the district in the 16th century.

The fleur-de-lis is taken from the arms of the Schacks family, who lived at the Gram castle at the end of the 17th century.

The millstone is taken as a symbol for St. Vincentius, the patron saint of the local church.
