German	In Rot zwei schräggekreuzte, gestürzte Schwerter mit silbernen Klingen und goldenen Griffen, davon der linke in Form von drei Viertel eines Kleeblattkreuzes. An beiden Seiten befindet sich je ein goldenes Eichenblatt mit nach außen gewandter Eichel und unten eine goldene Kornähre mit zwei abgebogenen Blättern.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 1981.

The crossed swords point to the lower noble family Von Hartenrode, from which the place name Hardert is derived. They are also shown on the seals of Heinrich von Hardert (1483) and Johann von Hardert (1523 and 1543).

The oak leaves symbolize the forests and the ear of wheat the agricultural character of the municipality.

The colors red and gold are taken from the coat of arms of the Counts, later Princes of Wied, to whose territorial property Hardert belonged for a long time.
