Origin/meaning

The book refers to his former profession as teacher at the university in Würzburg. The meaning of the rooster is not clear, it may be a symbol of vigilance. The sword refers to his father, who was a Corporal in the Husar regiment of the Archbishops of Würzburg.

The arms were identical in Speyer and Augsburg.
