Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on May 3, 1988.

The sun in the arms symbolises that the municipality is in a very sunny area of the country and receivesvery littl erain. The blue bend symbolises the Wasserwaal, part of a large irrigation system built after World War II, to provide the local farmers with water during the summer.
