KIRRWEILER

State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Südliche Weinstrasse
Verbandsgemeinde : Verbandsgemeinde Maikammer

Wappen von Kirrweiler/Arms (crest) of Kirrweiler
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 23, 1962.

The arms show the historical village symbol, which, probably, is based on the cross of the State of Speyer, to which the area historically belonged. The symbol appeared already on the local seal from 1703.
In the 19th century the village applied for the use of the arms, but with the shield upside down. These arms were also used by Hupp, who added the silver and white colours, as no historical colours were known, see below. In 1962 the present arms were granted, with the symbol in the shape as seen on the historical seal.
