LA SARRAZ

Canton : Vaud

Armoiries de La Sarraz

Official blazon

Parti de gueules et d'or, à la lettre S d'argent brochante.

Origin/meaning

The meaning of the divided shield is not known, the letter S is the town's initial. The arms already appear in the 16th century, as in 1561 the local council approved the use of the arms on the local church tower.

The arms thus have not changed since, although the Coffee Hag albums once showed a different version (see below). These arms are those of the Gingins family, lords of La Sarraz.

Variations of the arms in the Kaffee Hag albums 1914-1960 :

Wappen von/Blason de La Sarraz

The arms on a Dutch tobacco card (+/- 1910)
