Region : Catalonia
Province : Lleida

Vansaf.png

Official blazon

Escut caironat partit: 1r de sinople, una espasa d'or i un bàcul episcopal d'argent passats en sautor; 2n d'or, una àncora de sable. Per timbre, una corona mural de poble.

Origin/meaning

The arms have been officially granted on June 16, 1983.

Compound arms: they show the arms of the two main villages of the municipality, that merged in 1973. La Vansa, the chief town, is represented by a sword and an episcopal staff, the attributes of St. Martin, soldier and bishop, the local patron saint; the other partition is for Fórnols de Cadí, symbolized by an anchor, the attribute of the patron saint of the village, St. Clement.
