METROPOLITAN FIRE BRIGADE (MELBOURNE)

Coat of arms (crest) of Metropolitan Fire Brigade (Melbourne)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of the city of Melbourne, with in the fourth quarter a fire engine replacing the ship and with the second and third quarters reversed.

The torches are a more generic symbol of a Fire Brigade.

The mptto Audax et promptus means 'Audacious and Swift/Speedy'
