Arms of Milano (province)

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were created after Lodi and surroundings were made a separate province.

The chief show the red cross of the town of Milano. The sun-and-moon are derived from an ancient capital of the area, the Mirasole abbey, near Milan. The blue background was chosen because it's the colour of Europe.
