NO 38 SQUADRON, ROYAL AIR FORCE
History: The Squadron ws raised at Thetford in april 1916.

Origin/meaning
The Heron is a common Bird in East Anglia, where the Squadron was raised. They are formidable fighters when attacked. The Motto translates as "Before the dawn". The badge was approved in February 1937.
