History: First formed in 1945 as Radar Trials Unit. The Squadron reformed as a Commando Trials Unit in 1964 with Westland Wessex Helicopters.

1965 Design: Blue; a base barry wavy white and blue a dagger point downwards silver winged gold. Motto: Ne gladius dormiat. 1979 Design: White a base barry wavy of four blue and white over a Fairbairn-Sykes dagger point upward red winged gold. Motto: Ne gladius dormiat.

Origin/meaning

The Winged Dagger symbolises the Commando Connection. The Latin Motto translates as "Let the sword not sleep". The Badge was approved in 1965, the design was altered in 1979.
