Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were registered in 1985.

The lion is taken from the old arms of Hjørring Amt. The base shows a golden point, representing the Northern part of Denmark, surrounded by the sea. The water-lily leaves represent the three regions in the Amt, Himmersyssel, Vendsyssel and Thyssyssel.
