OLD 1ST CAVALRY REGIMENT ROYAL LIFEGUARDS ON HORSE, SWEDISH ARMY
Raised : 1770 as the Finska lätta dragonkåren (Finnish Light Dragoon Corps), become part of the Guards in 1772 as the Lätta dragonerna av Livgardet (Light Dragoons of the Lifeguards)
1793 renamed Livhusarregementet (Life Hussar Regiment), and in 1797 become Lätta livdragonregementet (Light Life Dragoon Regiment) and in 1806 Livgardet till häst (Lifeguards on Horse).
In 1928 amalgamated with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment to become Livregementet till häst (Life Regiment on horse) which in 1949 was reduced to the Livgardesskvadronen (Lifeguards Squadron)
Garrison : Stockholm, Borgå, Södertälje, Enköping and Sigtuna. From 1811 the Regiment as a whole was based in Stockholm.
