PERLSDORF

State : Steiermark
District : Feldbach

Perlsdorf.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 16, 1997.

The municipality is possibly named after a medieval squire. "Perl" is a shortened diminutive of "Bernhard", but there is no candidate on record. So, in according to local lore, the coat of arms was made doubly canting: Two young bears bearing a chain of pearls. In the dialect, both can be called "perl".
