Arms of Rønne

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted by the King in 1562. The document, however, mentions that the arms are confirmed, indicating an older history. The three codfish indicate the importance of fisheries for the city. On a seal from 1584 the patron saint of the fishermen, St. Nicholas, acts as a supporter.
