Arms of Ringkøbing

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, known from 1608, but probably dating from around 1580.

The eagle may be a canting symbol for the city of Ørneborg (eagle's town), which was situated near Ringkøbing in the Middle Ages.
