ROTHLEITEN
State : Steiermark
District : Graz-Umgebung
Incorporated into : 1992 Frohnleiten
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on April 19, 1955.
The arms show a dragon which, according to folklore, resided in the Drachenhöhle (Dragon's Lair) near Peggau and terrorized the whole region.
Near the river Mur, there are plenty of caves. These were settled in pre-historic times by men and beasts. Their remains were found and gave rise to all sorts of myths.
