Arms of Sønderhald

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1977.

The lower half of the arms shows the blade of a forester's axe, symbolising the importance of forestry in the municipality. The seal of the former Sønderhald Herred also showed an axe.

The deer's antler in the chief also symbolises the forests and their wildlife. The antler is also a cnting symbol for the Dyrsland region (dyr=deer), in which the municipality is situated.
