Arms of Sakskøbing

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially registered in 1938.

The arms are based on the oldest seal of the city, which is known from 1584. The seal and the arms show two sheep-shearing scissors. The same symbol already appears on a coin dating from 1320. The scissors (sakse) are canting.
