Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 9, 1952.

The point refer to the inlet/fjord, which divides the island in West- and East Saltvik. The two fleur-de-lys are sthe symbol of St. Mary, the patron saint of the local mediaval (13th century) church.
