The arms were officially granted on January 30, 2008.

The bentgrass (Agrostis sp.) is canting: “bentgrass” is “smilga” in Lithuanian. Green symbolizes freedom, beauty, joy, health and hope. Silver symbolizes wealth, morality and purity.
