Shield: Azure, a key fesswise ward to sinister superimposed by a lightning bolt bendwise, overall a bayonet point up bend sinisterwise Or; in chief an eagle's head erased of the like, in base a trefoil Argent; all within a bordure diminished of the like.

Distintive Unit Insignia, Description: A Silver color metala nd enamel device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height overall conisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Azure, a key fesswise ward to sinister superimposed by a lightning bolt bendwise, overall a bayonet point up bend sinisterwise Or; in chief an eagle's head erased of the like, in base a trefoil Argent; all within a bordure diminished of the like. Between the shield and scroll a Sliver brickwork. Around the bottom is a blck scroll inscribed "STRENGTH IN HONOR" in Silver letters.

Origin/meaning

The Blue Colour symbolises the Infantry Roots. The Eagle is a symbol of Strength and Vigilance, is is also part of the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the 101st Airborne Division. The Club as seen on a Playing Card, refers to the 1st Brigade Helmet Marking. The Bayonet symbolises Combat readiness. The Lightning bolt symbolises quick response and the Battalion's signal capabilities. The Key refers to the Military Intelligence function. The Bordure respresents unity and cooperation. The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 6 September 2006.
