Shield: Per bend Gules and Tenné, in dexter a forging hammer erect Or, in sisnister four lightning flashes crosswise Argent, a bend of the third charged with a bayonet Sable; on a chief Azure a demi-sun of six-rays of the third bearing an arrowhead point up of the first.
Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the California Army National Guard: From a wreath Or and Gules, the setting sun behind a grizzly bear passant on a grassy field all Proper.
Motto: Sostenga el combate (Sustain the fight).
Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Per bend Gules and Tenné, in dexter a forging hammer erect Or, in sisnister four lightning flashes crosswise Argent, a bend of the third charged with a bayonet Sable; on a chief Azure a demi-sun of six-rays of the third bearing an arrowhead point up of the first. Attached around the bottom of the shield is a Black Tripartite scroll inscribed "SOSTENGA" "EL" "COMBATE" in Gold.
Origin/meaning
The Colours Blue, Orange anr Red symbolises the Signal, Artillery and Engineers units that maked up the Battalion. The Sun with Arrowhead alludes to the 40th Infantry Division, which the Battalion supports. The Bayonet indicates that the 40th Division is Infantry. The Lightning flashes symbolises Speedy Communications. The forging Hammer symbolises strenght and the forging forward no matter where to build up the Command Post Defences and Support.
THe Coat of Arms and distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 3 December 2008.
