Distinctive Unit Insignia, Description: A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned as follows: Per chevron Gules and Azure (Teal Blue a sword and key saltirewise hilt and bow to base Argent alighting from chief onto the sword an eagle of the last, issuing from dexter chief a lightning flash of the like. Attached below a bipartite Scralet motto scroll inscribed "PERGITE PROELIUM" in Silver letters.
Origin/meaning
The Eagle alludes to the 101st Airborne Division. The Sword symbolises readiness and Military Ethos. The Key symbolises the Military Intelligence part of the Battalion and the Lightning the Signal part. The chevron shape alludes to the Engineer part of the Battalion.
The coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 6 September 2006.
