STAND FAST
(Heraldic motto)

Origin : It is understood that Colonel Jefferson Davis, when commanding the troops at the Battle of Buena Vista, commanded, "Stand Fast, Mississippians," when other troops were beginning to fall back.
The motto selected is taken from this command.
