History: Raised in 1678 as the Earl of Mar's Regiment, taken on the English Establishment in 1688, becoming in 1751 21st Foot. In 1959 amalgamated with [[The Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment), British Army]] to form [[The Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment, British Army]].
