VFA-211 CHECKMATES, US NAVY
History: Established as VB-74 on 1 May 1945, becoming on 15 November 1946 VA-1B and VA-24 on 1 September 1948. Redesignated as VF-24 (second use of the designation) and on 1 December 1949 and on 9 March 1959 as VF-211 (second use of this designation). The VFA-211 designation was given on 1 August 2006.
Homeport: NAS Oceana, Virginia.
