VFA-86 SIDEWINDERS, US NAVY

History: On 1 February 1951 The Reserve Fighter Squadron VF-921 was called to active duty for the Korean War. On 4 February 1953 it was redesignated VF-84 and on 1 July 1955 Attack Squadron (VA) 86. On 15 July 1987 the Squadron become VFA-86.

Homeport: NAS Leemore, California.
