History: Formed 1 September 1931 as VP-5S, VP-5F: 1 April 1933–1937, VP-5(1st): 1937-1 July 1939, VP-33(1st): 1 July 1939-1 July 1941, VP-32(2nd): 1 July 1941-1 October 1944, VPB-32: 1 October 1944–15 May 1946, VP-MS-6: 15 November 1946-1 September 1948, and has since been designated VP-46.
Homeport: NAS Whidbey Island, Washington.
