Inactivated on 14 Sep 1949. Redesignated as 39 Troop Carrier Squadron, Medium, on 3 Jul 1952. Activated on 14 Jul 1952. Redesignated as: 39 Troop Carrier Squadron on 1 Mar 1966; 39 Tactical Airlift Squadron on 1 May 1967. Inactivated on 31 Jul 1971. Activated on 31 Aug 1971. Redesignated as 39 Airlift Squadron on 1 Jan 1992. Inactivated on 1 Jun 1992. Activated on 1 Oct 1993.
Paratroop drops on Noemfoor, Tagaytay (Luzon), as well as aerial transportation in South, Southwest, and Western Pacific in World War II. Berlin Airlift, 1948. Airlift missions to Grenada, in Oct 1983; to Panama, Dec 1989–17 Jan 1990; and to Southwest Asia, Aug 1990–Mar 1991. Deployed aircraft, crews, support equipment with personnel to sustain airlift operations, including Southwest Asia, 1993-.
