In 1909 the State Archives proposed to use the composition with St. Martin in a shield in the colours of the State of Speyer, to which the village belonged until 1803. The municipality agreed with the proposal, but took no action to use the new arms. Only in 1918 a new seal was made with the new arms. In 1937 the municipality was urged to change the arms, as it was at the time no longer allowed to use religious symbols in municipal arms. The municipality postponed the change and after the 2nd World War the change was no longer necessary.
