The Crest is that for Regiments and Separate Battalions of the Maryland Army National Guard.
The dancetté and wavy partition lines of the fess are symbolic of the mountainous and shore areas of Maryland, in which places most of the companies of the battalion are located. The design on the fess is taken from the Seal of Maryland. The bayonet and pick represent Engineers. The Crest is that for Regiments and Separate Battalions of the Maryland Army National Guard.
 
The Coat of Arms was approved on 8 June 1954.
