The Crest is that for Regiments and Separate Battalions of the Utah Army National Guard.
Oriental blue and silver gray are the colors traditionally associated with Military Intelligence.  The shield represents the protection the unit must always sustain for the country.  The globe is symbolic of the unit’s worldwide mission.  The gold lamp of knowledge alludes to the fact that the unit is always striving to understand and gain the knowledge the unit needs to stay prepared and ready to keep world peace and signifies successful accomplishment.  The black sword denotes the covert and exemplifies the unit’s vigilance, loyalty and readiness to defend freedom, liberty and country.  The rays of light are adapted from the military intelligence emblem; they allude to a compass and symbolize the unit’s readiness to respond no matter where needed.

The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was approved on 21 February 1989.
