===Origin/meaning===
Symbolism:  Cobalt blue and gold are the colors used for the Chemical Corps.  The ancient elements, fire and water, depicted by the flames and heraldic drops connote the basic chemical operations provided by the unit.  The smoke ring alludes to the generation of smoke screens and related chemical activities.  The fire and smoke also refer to the Battalion’s motto. The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 7 August 1967. A Coat of Arms was never approved for the Battalion.
