Eversberg developed around a castle of the Counts of [[Arnsberg (kreis)|Arnsberg]] and received city rights in 1242. The oldest seal dates from the end of the 13th century and already shows the combination of a canting boar (Eber) and the arms of the Counts of Arnsberg. When in 1368 the city became part of Westfalen, the arms did not change.
