The arms were granted on March 21, 1979 and show in the lower part the cross of Speyer. Elchesheim was ruled by the bishops of Speyer from the 12th-14<sup>th</sup> century, whereas Illingen was ruled until 1803 by the bishops. The upper part symbolises the river Rhine and the two fish are the two former municipalities.
