The wheels are taken from the arms of the Knights Von Guotmadingen, mentioned in the 12th and 13th centuries. In the late 13th century the village became a possession of the Counts of Wartenberg and in 1318 of the COunts of Fürstenberg. The latter used in their arms the typical blue-silver wavy bordure, which is combined with the wheels in the arms.
