It was redesignated for the 117th Armored Infantry Battalion, Tennessee National Guard on 28 July 1955. It is redesignated for the 117th Infantry Regiment, Tennessee National Guard on 11 October 1960. The insignia was redesignated for the 117th Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard, with blazon and symbolism revised, on 15 April 1997.
