Eichstetten became an important town in the early 15<sup>th</sup> century in the struggle for power between the Dukes of Austria and the Counts of Hachberg. The town started to use seals in the late 15<sup>th</sup> century and the oldest seals already showed the present arms. The arms show the bend of Baden (to which the County of Hachberg belonged) and a canting oak branch (Eiche=oak).
